President's Message
As I “take the reins” as president of OAHPERD, I do so with anticipation, humility, and a sense of awe. I started in the grassroots of our organization as an Area Coordinator, then Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart Coordinator and VP of Physical Education. Over these years I have been mentored by past presidents and formed friendships and professional alliances with others on the board & council. We all have a passion for OAHPERD and our profession – and want to meet the needs of our members.
My goals this year include growing our membership, making OAHPERD more visible to our legislators & superintendents, hosting area workshops, mentoring our young professionals, and hosting another incredible convention. That brings me to my theme for this year: Step Up & Make it Happen. The economy has affected OAHPERD, just as it has every family and business. But, we can still meet the needs of our membership and be a key supporter of our profession. We just have to Step Up & Make it Happen!
